We are free to pray in any
way that the Holy Spirit inspires us to but it may help to use various
forms such as following the acronym ACTS (Adoration, Confession,
Thanksgiving, Supplication).
 |
Adoration:
Begin by joining the host's of heaven before the throne of God
adoring Him in His entire splendor. See Isaiah 6:1-3, Revelation
7:10-12. |
~Pray for God's glory to fill you, your
family and friends.
~Praise God for all His wondrous works
that you see in creation, in your life, your family’s life and the lives
of your friends.
 |
Confession:
Join the response of those throughout the scriptures who find
themselves in the presence of God: kneeling before the LORD in
confession of sins. See Isaiah 6:5, Exodus 3:6, Matt 6:5-9a "When
you pray" literally means, "When you kneel on the ground in worship.
You could even get out of the chair and kneel on the ground to
express this aspect of prayer before God. |
~In group prayer, it is understandable
that people may not want to confess sins verbally for others to hear.
This should be respected, as it is only God that can forgive through
what He did on the cross for us. Yet, God blesses those willing to
confess to one another and pray for one another so that we may be healed
as indicated in James 5:16.
 |
Thanksgiving:
We can immediately thank the Lord for His forgiveness and salvation
for God promises to forgive us (1 John 1:9).
|
~Psalm 95:2 says, "come before His
presence with thanksgiving (See also Ps 100:4, 116:7, Phil 4:6, Rev
7:12).
~Give thanks for God's blessings upon this
prayer ministry and upon each of us.
~Thank God for all prayer requests that
have been answered.
 |
Supplication:
Phil 4:6 says, "Do not worry about anything, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus." |
~Pray for God to reveal what we need to be
praying for.
~Pray for the requests given this prayer
ministry.
~Pray for God to draw people to Himself
through this prayer ministry.
~Pray for God’s protection from the evil
one.
